Current Creative Inspo : Esperanto Love Stories

Notes from Erick: This season I’ve been inspired by Esperanto ~ a widely spoken international auxiliary language based on the roots pulled from the European romance languages.

Esperanto was created in 1887 by L. L. Zamenhof, a Polish-Jewish ophthalmologist, and first published in book detailing it titled “Unua Libro”. Zamenhof created Esperanto to be a universal second language that would allow people who speak different native languages to communicate, yet at the same time to retain their own cultural identities. While Zamenhof realized that a common language would not end all cultural barriers, he believed it would enable ordinary people to have authentic cross national conversations.

Esperanto’s translated name “One Who Hopes”, has been in practical use for over a hundred years and has proved to be a genuine living language ~ capable of expressing all facets of human thought including poetry, transcendence, and love.

mi amas vin
— I Love You in Esperanto

I think my interest in the concept of an Esperanto Love Story is based upon our own creative reaction to the daily onslaught of digital technology and social media which has been embedded into all of our daily lives. Even though we are more connected than ever, we are still seeking authentic loving experiences that will enable a level of connection and intimacy to symbolize our innate need for beauty, optimism and joy.

I believe we all have an Esperanto Love Story deep within that is provocative and thoughtful. I believe our personal stories enable all of us to communicate our collective originality, creativity, love, and visionary feelings. I believe our deepest positive feelings will point us towards a beautiful 2019. ~ E.
